Pinilla is a different proposition from the surf towns: a master-planned hacienda property with a golf course, hotel, and rental villas spread through dry forest behind several kilometers of lightly used beach. If your group wants a pool, space, and quiet nights, this is the local answer — with Tamarindo's restaurants and tours a short drive away.
The beaches along the property, including Playa Mansita and Playa Bonita, are far emptier than Tamarindo's, and the surf at nearby Avellanas is minutes away. Staying here without a car is workable but not ideal — most people rent one or lean on drivers.
