ATV & Off-Road in Tamarindo, honestly

Standard tours run 2–3 hours on a guided loop: dusty ranch roads, dry-forest trails, a viewpoint or beach stop, and in green season the occasional river crossing. You'll get dirty — that's the point. Closed shoes, sunglasses, and a bandana or buff make the ride much more comfortable.

Most operators require drivers to be adults with ID; kids typically ride as passengers or in side-by-side buggies — check age minimums per tour before booking. In dry season the dust is serious; in green season it's mud instead. Either way, don't wear anything you love.

Before you book

  • Wear closed shoes and clothes you don't mind ruining
  • Bring sunglasses or ask about goggles — dust is real in dry season
  • Check driver age and license requirements before booking
  • Doubles and buggies are the family option — confirm passenger age minimums
